660 feet. A whole lot of life between the lines.

Drag racing has a very particular relationship with time. A few seconds on the track can require an entire week in the shop, a long drive, a trailer full of equipment and a conversation about the budget that everybody would prefer to postpone.

We understand. We have also called a parts order “just a couple of things.”

Some people unwind. We apparently need a generator.

The road to 660' Apparel runs through more than 25 years of ambulance work and EMS, a life around drag racing, and an ongoing inability to leave an interesting project alone. Somewhere along that road came The Salty Medic, HVAC businesses and projects, ecommerce, and the entrepreneurial habit of looking at an already full week and thinking, “Sure. There’s room.”

There generally was not room.

But there were race cars. There were shops where one small adjustment had the manners to become a whole evening. There were tow rigs, trailers, fuel jugs and generators—the supporting cast required to move a car a very short distance after first moving it a very long distance.

Racing around the country gives you plenty of time to think. Mostly about the next stop for fuel. Occasionally about why the noise you’re hearing wasn’t there before.

The people are the part you keep coming back for.

For all the attention paid to the car, racing is remarkably crowded with people. Family. Friends. The crew. Someone holding a light at an angle that is technically helpful. Someone who remembers where the missing tool went. Someone who has already heard “one more pass” several times today.

That is the world behind this brand: staging lanes and timing slips, shop nights and long drives, broken parts and the people who help you find a way through them. The jokes make more sense when you’ve been there. So does the willingness to do it all again.

We wanted clothing that belonged in that world. Something for the racer, the pit crew, the family member in the stands and the person who came to help for an hour and somehow stayed until dark.

Why 660?

Six hundred sixty feet is one-eighth of a mile. It is the distance at the heart of our name and our drag-racing roots. The apostrophe is the feet symbol. It is also considerably easier to print on a shirt than the complete explanation of how much preparation goes into a pass.

660' Apparel turns that life into designs: the cars, the horsepower, the humor and the family gathered around it. Wear them at the track, in the shop or during the suspiciously brief period when nothing needs fixing.

Pull up a chair. Mind the extension cord.

You do not need a trophy case or a perfect reaction time to belong here. If you love the place, the people or the wonderfully unreasonable process of getting a race car to the starting line, you will understand what we’re doing.

We’re glad you found us. Have a look around. Somebody probably knows where the 10 mm went.
